Methodology and Editorial Independence

METHODOLOGY

Editorial independence, made visible.

West Common separates the decision framework, the supporting facts and any future commercial relationship so readers can see why something was included.

How a destination is built

  1. Define the decision. Start with the room, goal, constraint, posture or use case.
  2. Identify distinct roles. A shortlist must solve meaningfully different needs.
  3. Source material facts. Prefer primary manufacturer and retailer information for specifications and current availability.
  4. Reconcile conflicts. If dimensions or claims disagree, label the uncertainty rather than choosing the convenient number.
  5. Explain tradeoffs. State who a role helps, what it costs in space or flexibility, and why it remains.
  6. Recheck before launch. Product identity, dimensions, price, availability and links require current verification.
Testing language

West Common will not say a product was personally tested unless that testing actually occurred and the method can be explained.

Status language during private development

Reconciled/A-grade means the decision role or evidence package passed the current internal checks. Verification in progress and candidate reconciliation mean product-level work is unfinished. Reserved/private means the role is intentionally withheld from recommendations.

Corrections

Send the page URL and supporting source to wellwalkedbrand@gmail.com. Material corrections should be made clearly and promptly.

Editorial independence

Commercial relationships do not buy favorable conclusions or guaranteed placement. West Common may decline to cover a product even when a monetized link is available, and may cover a useful product without a monetized link.
